Summer mornings are the best!

In the heat of an Ozark summer, there’s no better place to cool off than on one of our spring-fed rivers. Spring water is like nature’s air conditioner, keeping the trout and the trout angler, comfortable in the heat. We like to get an early start on these days and as the sun rises through the typical early morning fog, the dimpling rises of trout feasting on the morning Trico hatch come into view. The morning hours can produce some great fishing, particularly on the Niangua. By the time the sun begins to burn off the fog and we can begin to feel the summer warmth, we’ve already landed a bunch of fish and can see the take out coming into view. Time to load the boat and leave the river to the swimmers and canoeists. The morning was a good one.
