Fall is often a time of dry weather in the Ozarks, but an ongoing drought makes this year a more extreme example. Our rivers are low and clear. Limestone springs, always a mainstay of the water we fish, have flowed undiluted by any surface runoff for several months. The low water requires more of a “fine and far off” approach, but with persistence, anglers can still enjoy success amidst the splendor of fall in the Ozarks. Here’s a great report of a recent trip we took on the Niangua River. Enjoy! https://www.flyfishersatthecrossing.org/trips-floating-the-drought-stricken-niangua-river/#foogallery-28093/i:1
