The “Off” Season

Now that the World Series is over–congratulations to the Texas Rangers–the “hot stove” season has begun for baseball fans. It’s a time to relive the past season’s excitement and anticipate the drama of the year to come. Many fly anglers think of the winter months in a similar way and put away their gear until the spring foliage turns the hills green again. But those in the know recognize that fly fishing never really goes out of season in the Ozarks. Yes, cold weather can make tying flies or watching fishing videos a more comfortable option at times, but we get plenty of mild spells in a typical winter that permit fun and productive outings on our spring-fed waters. Keep an eye on the forecast and get in touch if you see a day or two of warm weather ahead. This time of year, short notice trips are often a possibility.
