Depending on where you live, you may have witnessed remarkable numbers of periodical cicadas this spring and hopefully, enjoyed some exciting fishing as a result. There certainly are alot of cicada-fattened fish in our area and despite the dwindling population of real cicadas, the fish are still on the lookout. I expect them to stay interested for a few more weeks, perhaps longer. I’ve already heard a report of the larger Dog Day Cicadas and along with the usual summer abundance of beetles, crickets, grasshoppers, etc. the fish will likely stay interested in big terrestrial dry flies well into the fall.
